Southfield Village Civic Association

"A Safe, Happy Place To Call Home"

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I'm a renter in the neighborhood. Can I still belong to the Civic Association and participate as a voting member?
A: YES. Unlike the previous mandatory Association, our new Civic Association accepts all of the neighbors into the association whether the actual homeowner or not. We'd encourage you to fill out the membership application online or print one out and return it to our P.O. Box.

Q: Now that the "mandatory" homeowers association has been dissolved, does that mean that the Warranty Deed Restrictions no longer apply?
A: NO. The deed restrictions still apply to homeowners because they're in your property deed. As also provided for in the property deeds, individuals may take legal action against neighbors to enforce compliance. The voluntary Civic Association will not be involved in enforcement. Most complaints though are actually violations of Columbus City Code and will be enforced by the City if you call them. If you have an issue with a neighbor we'd encourage you to first talk to them about it to see if a reasonable resolution exists.

Q: Am I obligated to pay annual dues to the Civic Association as was required with the previous Homeowners Association?
A: NO. Membership is entirely voluntary. You can fill out the membership application online or submit one to our PO Box. In lieu of dues you can sign up for our community service list on the membership site.

Q: What happend to the previous Homeowners Association and the PSAM (OMNI) Management Group?
A: The PSAM management group was only involved in our community for a few years. An overwhelming supermajority of the neighbors voted together to dismiss them, and to dissolve the existing homeowners association. Now a community driven civic association is in place - needing your help.
